Our Beliefs
We believe in partnerships built on fair trade, ecology + transparency.
We at Palm + Sea and our parent company, Doves United, believe in an ethical, transparent, and more sustainable, circular production cycle. We use organic, natural, cellulose, and vegan fibers with a conscious effort to reduce and offset carbon emissions and the use of water and natural resources.
We want to improve the livelihoods, health, and creativity of our employees and production partners. We work with global artisans, domestic design and manufacturing partners, fair trade suppliers, and sustainably-minded businesses throughout our supply chain. Together, we work towards a more inclusive, diverse, and sustainable way of life for people, animals, and the planet.
Our Sustainability Goals
Close the loop: Move from a low waste to zero waste, closed-loop, product cycle that is measurable. Implement an effective consumer recycling program that recycles the end product after years of use.
Ethical growth: Palm + Sea will improve the livelihoods of our company and our partners. Once we expand, we'll contract domestic artisans and design services at a living wage and help promote fair trade and Fashion Revolution principles.
Sustainable certification: Become a Certified B Corporation and seek Fair Trade USA certification for goods we design and manufacture. Maintain measurable documentation of our sustainable efforts.
Sustainability Guide for Each Product
Each Palm + Sea product will have its own sustainability guide to know how each product was made and the sustainability principles used.
Ethical Sourcing + Supply Chain Management
Palm + Sea uses both certified organic and fair trade materials. We also use uncertified materials grown with organic, fair trade principles by small producers that cannot afford industry certification but are associated with third-party foundations like NEST Artisan Guild, and Fashion Revolution, to name a few.
Organic + Sustainable Materials
We use GOTS-certified organic cotton materials, Tencel™, EcoVero™, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, OEKO-TEX® Made in Green, and natural fibers that are sustainably grown and harvested in a circular process with official certifications.
Environmentally Friendly Materials (Excluding Organic)
We use natural, sustainably grown, and harvested fibers like hemp, pineapple, banana leaf, rubber, cork, jute, and sustainably harvested raw material wood from managed forests, certified by the FSC and PEFC for the production of Tencel™ and EcoVero™.
Producers are associated with groups like Fair Wear, SA8000, World Fair Trade Organization, Fair Trade USA, Green America, GRS, NEST Artisan Guild, and Fashion Revolution.
Vegan + Animal Friendly
Palm + Sea is a vegan brand with no animal-derived products. We will seek PETA certification for our goods once we launch in 2024.
Recycling + Waste
Our products have a circular life cycle. We upcycle fabric scraps and materials to produce new products by ourselves or within other sustainable industries.
We restrict the use of petroleum-based synthetics (plastic, polyesters, and recycled PET) to eliminate microplastic waste in Earth's waterways and oceans, an endangered resource.
Palm+Sea will offer our customers a product recycling program to close the loop on waste management during manufacturing and for our customers, to return our garments at the end of life for recycling and repurposing.
Energy Efficiency + Carbon Emissions
Palm + Sea designs and manufactures products in our solar-powered studio based in Florida, USA. We participate in the Florida Power & Light Company's SolarTogether Program.
We will continue to incorporate processes that monitor and lower our carbon footprint. Our goal at Palm + Sea and our parent company, Doves United, will be to offset all carbon emissions. We strive to conserve energy and resources in every part of our production cycle.
We seek manufacturing partners that can prove an effort is being made toward lowering their carbon footprint and proactively addressing energy and water usage to help combat climate change.
Decent Working Conditions
We use NEST Artisan Guild work guidelines here at Palm + Sea and the Doves United design studio. Our suppliers uphold ethical work conditions with fair living wages and ethical labor standards. Suppliers and manufacturers that are not eligible to join Fair Wear or larger labor organizations are monitored by 3rd-party organizations, like Fashion Revolution that help small producers adhere to ethical conditions for a fair workplace and more sustainable practices to help people, animals, and the planet.
